SeaweedSway SUNDAY: Garrett Pierce, Kacey Johansing, Ramon & Jessica, Jeremy Dalmas. SATURDAY Conspiracy of Venus & Beards + Rupa & the April Fishes!

hello everyone!

there are two big holiday shows this weekend that i hope you'll attend, and lots of other great events listed below.

The first show (tomorrow, Saturday) i'll be singing in with the Conspiracy of Venus choir. We are going first right at 9pm (doors at 8:30), thenConspiracy of Beards & Rupa & the April Fishes will play, at the Rickshaw Stop. We are doing some experimental collaboration w/ both the Beards & Rupa, so get ready. And dress up! It's a Holiday Formal! We have lots of new songs, by Joni Mitchell, Tom Waits, the Ramones (yes) & more.

Then on Sunday is the 3rd SeaweedSway Showcase at the Make-Out Room w/ Garrett Pierce, Kacey Johansing, Ramon & Jessica, & Jeremy Dalmas mc'ing. I'm very very excited about this one, as the music promises to be amazingggg, and it will be a fun gathering of friends and reasons to celebrate.

Jamie Freedman wrote up a nice article in the Examiner about the SeaweedSway Showcase. Please check it out!! http://tinyurl.com/ybf5anh She even has a photo to demonstrate an ugly holiday sweater (recommended attire). For the show, you get $1 off admission (so $7 instead of $8) if you bring a non-perishable food item (healthy if possible). Jeremy will be giving out baked goods to those who participate in his festive shenanigans. After the live music we'll have Dina Maccabee (of Ramon and Jessica)'s friend ipod dj'ing, so that we can have a dance party for her birthday! Maybe Christmas carols before the show starts?? And it starts early - doors at 7:30, show right at 8, and the music goes til 11, dance party will be after that.

If you want to take photos, video, and/or review either of these shows, please let me know! Hope to see you there!! More details on the shows are below, and flyers are attached.

Lastly for now, I wanted to spread the news that Sean Hayes' new album, "Run Wolves Run", comes out on March 2nd. Mark your calendar! To add momentum to the album release, he just released a new EP, "Honeybees Falling", that is free if you pre-order the album. You can do this on his website (and hear the Honeybees song) athttp://seanhayesmusic.com And there's a sale on all of the past albums, for the holidays, so you can get them for friends as gifts. Also!! He just released a video teaser of the song "Garden", that is sooooo good, and will be on the new album. See it here! http://bit.ly/seanhayes_garden Please pass it on if you like what you hear/see.

RUPA & THE APRIL FISHES
Rupa & the April Fishes create rousing and intimate performances which have earned them comparisons to Lhasa, Gogol Bordello, Beirut, and Manu Chao. Drawing from her nomadic childhood in India, France and the US as well as her work as a physician in San Francisco, Rupa's songs explore a wide swath of human experience in a multitude of languages drawing upon inspiration from songs from the streets around the world arranged for cello, accordion, trumpet, upright bass, drums and guitar. CONSPIRACY OF BEARDS

Conspiracy of Beards is a 30-member a capella male choir which performs exclusively the songs of the legendary poet, novelist, and singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen.

CONSPIRACY OF VENUS
Conspiracy of Venus was formed in early 2007 with the artistic direction of Joyce Todd McBride, whose unique and haunting arrangements bring new dimensions to familiar songs. Our repertoire ranges from cutting edge to classic and includes songs by Bjork, Joni Mitchell, Hildegard von Bingen, Tom Waits, Rufus Wainwright, and Leonard Cohen. This sister group to Conspiracy of Beards (the all male Leonard Cohen choir) rings out approximately 30 voices strong and continually intrigues Bay-Area audiences.

12-20 sunday.

Come to the 3rd SEAWEEDSWAY SHOWCASE at the Make-Out Room
a new SF show series building community around & highlighting some of the best local music, on 3rd Sundays of the month!

This one falls during the holiday season, so it will be a little more festive - wear your ugly holiday sweaters! Bring a non-perishable (healthy if possible) food item to donate to the SF Food Bank and get $1 off admission as well. Fruitcake/gingerbread contest too?? Bring it if you have it. :) After hearing some of the best indie/folk/pop music in SF from Garrett Pierce, Kacey Johansing, & Ramon & Jessica, stick around for a dance party in honor of Dina Maccabee (of Ramon & Jessica)'s birthday, for those who can stay out late. Come celebrate! Sunday night style, so it starts early, but latecomers are welcome. Doors at 7:30, music at 8.

SUNDAY DECEMBER 20TH show with

GARRETT PIERCE
"He manages a mix of the delicate, the folky, and the starry eyed" -SF Weekly

“I’m interested in ancient mythology, mainly because that style of storytelling has been waning in my lifetime, and some of the most powerful images and performances I’ve seen involve masks. I think they’re an incredibly important metaphor at explaining our place in nature.” - Garrett Pierce

KACEY JOHANSING
"As a key member of the San Francisco Indie/Folk movement, Kacey Johansing's songs are an homage to the beauty that surrounds her. Her voice is becoming an iconic representation of the Bay Area, as pure and powerful as the greats such as Nina, yet undeniably as fresh as her peers, Feist and Jolie" http://myspace.com/kaceyjohansing

RAMON & JESSICA
"Ramon and Jessica is the alter-ego duo of songwriters Jesse Olsen and Dina Maccabee. The R&J collaboration has continued to evolve since its viola-and-casio-keyboard driven inception in 2003, but at the center of the RJ sound remain two constants: intertwining vocal harmonies and unmistakably quirky tunes." http://myspace.com/ramonandjessica

JEREMY DALMAS
Interactive music & MC'ing "Absurdity... is creativity unburdened by meaning." - theAbsurdists.com

at the MAKE-OUT ROOM 3225 22nd St. in SF (right across from Revolution Cafe) http://www.makeoutroom.com $8 (or $7 if you bring a non-perishable food item, as healthy as possible!)
