BETH CUSTER ENSEMBLE

The Beth Custer Ensemble is a veritable crème de la crème of Bay Area musicians including long time collaborator Jan Jackson on drums, (Will Bernard's Motherbug; Chuck Berry), guitarist David James (Sila, The Coup, Spearhead) iconic pianist Graham Connah (Ted Brinkley), trumpet player Chris Grady (Mark Growden; Grassy Knoll); backup singer Diana Mangano (Jefferson Starship); Seth Ford Young, bass (Tom Waits, Sean Hayes) and Beth Custer, vocals/ clarients (Trance Mission, Club Foot Orchestra, Eighty Mile Beach).

BCE's latest release 'Roam' received the SF Chronicle's highest review rating Pink Section and Memory Select said "Roam... is about songs — Catchy stuff that AOR radio stations ought to take notice of. Custer’s voice takes center stage, a lightly silky sound that can dig deep into earthly soul, and a tone that lets you know you don’t have to be in a hurry."

DINA MACCABEE BAND

Classical viola major Dina Maccabee and free-jazz guitarist Tobin Summerfield made friends in Ann Arbor in 1998. They joked about the pop record they would make one day, but didn’t realize the common musical ground they’d create until...
A dozen years later, Dina is the go-to string player for all kinds of creative and popular music in the San Francisco Bay. The resulting collaboration is a set of tunes from right now that also stands outside pop music's endless wandering from trend to trend. The songs are timeless, intertwining disparate influences with a contemporary stylishness. Maccabee’s credentials from a decade in the real School of Rock show up in the shape of her songs, concise, intelligent lyrics, and her direct, unaffected singing style. Tying the room together, Maccabee arranges a catchy and haunting carpet of strings to complete this remarkable set. http://dinamaccabee.bandcamp.com
http://myspace.com/dinamaccabeeband

ALLISON LOVEJOY's Cabaret Nouveau

Concert pianist and first place winner of San Francisco's Best Modern Cabaret Competition, Allison brings to the stage the stylings of Marlena Dietrich, Nina Simone and Dresden Dolls. Original and classic... Stellar piano playing with sultry vocals and saucy stories...

"Smart, mischievous fun."......Pacifica Review

with special guests:

Stoo Odom, bass
Williiam Seekamp, sax
Marco Villalobos, drums
Diana Mangano, vocals

TRAINWRECK RIDERS
http://myspace.com/thetrainwreckriders
"Trainwreck Riders are a rocking in their chair, guitar-pickin' on the porch band from San Francisco. Their debut album ‘Lonely Road Revival’ harkens back to a golden age of Americana, when folk, country and blues musically intertwined (even if the musicians themselves rarely did)...Lyrically lovelorn, nerves raw, and emotions muddled, Trainwreck Riders songs ramble down the briar-filled paths of confused interpersonal relationships. The lyrics may be downbeat, but the music is not, careening headlong into brawling rockabilly and punchy punk blues. But for every exhilarating, slam-bang number, there's a corresponding one with a much more laid-back rhythm, easygoing atmosphere and at times, even dreamy aura. This is Americana for a new America, and as train wrecks go, this one is a beauty." - Jo-Ann Greene for AllMusicGuide.com

FAMILY TREA
http://myspace.com/familytrea
San Francisco's Family Trea (pronounced "tree") is a collaborative
music project with California musicians at its core. Featuring a
revolving cast of often traveling musicians, each show is different.
Influenced by the natural world and human relationships, Family trea's songs layer ethereal vocals, strings, and dobro over a foundation of drums and intricate finger-style guitar. Their music is reminiscent of late 60's - early 70's folk (Pentangle, Vashti Bunyan, Sibylle Baier) and evokes comparisons to modern acts including Espers, Six Organs of Admittance, and the Cocteau Twins. Rare to the stage, they have shared performances with artists as diverse as The Cairo Gang, Trainwreck Riders, Mammatus, Desolation Wilderness, Aaron Ross, Bobby Birdman, and Nat Russell (Birds of America). Currently, Family Trea is working on a full length album at Wymond Miles's Garden Chamber analog recording studio that will feature an all star cast of guest performances.

Dear Friends!
Another chasing the moon extravaganza is here and we get to headline!! The full moon is thursday; are you ready for a lovely night of music? Here's our news: Josh broke his hand, (wish him quick recovery) so he will not be joining us with his graceful and lilting soundscapes. But we will have both Matt Adams (of the blank tapes, yay!) and Sean Olmstead (of fpod bpod, yay!). Both of these men astound me with their tasteful guitar playing and general musicality. Sean is back from Portland, thank god, and will be joining us more often now. YAY! And as usual, Tom will be playing bass and Sleepy Todd the drums. YAY!YAY! Hope to see you there!
be well,

"Lilting, lyrical, plucky and bittersweet. The intersection of their intertwining voices and instruments has a powerful emotional impact…improvisational and fun, the way music should be." – Natalia Vekic, KQED.org

"The closest thing I can come up with is your savant-like college housemate who could get up with his guitar and improvise crazy songs that stopped people in their tracks. He made you want him to get famous because he was so obviously a genius…Except there are TWO people involved here, which makes the coordinated quirkiness even more remarkable…Ramon and Jessica are musical souls who are lucky to have found each other." – Adrienne van der Valk, Eugene Weekly

"Olsen’s "fragmented songs, minimalist soundscapes, and lo-fi tape
experiments” are intriguing. Sweet little bubbles of pop loveliness follow
meandering repetitive lullabies, odes to desert sunsets and studies of the
interplay between silence and expression. As he sings with the ethereal
yearning that long stays in the desert inspire, one truly begins to feel
the reality of being a tiny speck in a humongous universe. The playful
interaction between words and silence make for thought-provoking and
emotional music." - North Bay Bohemian
