Thao and Mirah Chasing the Moon Friday w/ Mike Sempert, Dina Maccabee, Travis Vick / Conspiracy of Venus Monday /

hello!
here's another list of SeaweedSway endorsed events.  :)

first a boring logistical thing: i'm trying it out w/ keeping the descriptions this time, but the formatting is kind of a mess. sorry about that. if you want to see a more readable version, or get more info for any of the events, go to http://bit.ly/seaweedswaycalendar and type in "agenda". (all these events have facebook pages w/ more details too, so please rsvp and invite friends!)

now, a mini rundown:
tonight i'm helping w/ merch at the Beth Custer Ensemble's show at the SF MOMA, so come by if you can! (i'll be there after choir practice, but you should definitely go earlier.) free w/ museum admission.

tomorrow is the full harvest moon, and with that we are having the chasing the moon show at viracocha! thao and mirah's episode release. just to be clear, they are not performing live, but you get to see their new never-before-seen podcast on the full moon, with live special solo sets from mike sempert of birds and batteries, dina maccabee (who just released her new CD!), and travis vick (an out of towner, so a rare occasion to see him play, and he is good!!). get there early to be sure you get in...

next week is insane w/ incredible shows in the best way possible; there is something every night! (except thursday?) i'll be at most of them so hope to see you there. see below for all the events you could ever possibly want to attend! :)

Please join us for a very special gathering of east and west bay talents! Each act on this bill is not only a phenomenal performer but also a totally unique singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist approaching her music in a creative way -- be it on banjo, accordion, fiddle, or ukulele.

***Uni and her Ukelele***

Uni, the neo-vintage pop chanteuse/raconteur gathered up kickpants, a rockhawk and magical ruby slippers for the first time in 2004 and her 20’s punk movement has been gathering strength ever since. Her original and sincere take on the Ukelele coupled with her sweetly stirring and sometimes-haunting refrains unite to conjure the spectrum of catharsis.
www.myspace.com/uniherukelele

***Dina Maccabee Band***

What do Wilco, Donovan, and Duncan Sheik have in common? Why, they've all shared a stage with Dina Maccabee of course. Dina has performed with countless Bay Area bands on fiddle and vocals, and now it's time to drop the curtain on her very own set of sad songs for rocking out.
with Roger Riedelbauer, guitar, Eric Perney, bass, and Eric Kuhn, drums
www.myspace.com/dinamaccabee

***Whiskey & Women***

Featuring members of Culann's Hounds and The Whoreshoes, the girls of Whiskey and Women dish up a tasty mix of old-timey, Cajun, and Irish music. Spawned from late nights of Jameson-influenced tunes and singalongs, as well as playing music on the streets of San Francisco and Edinburgh, Renee de la Prade and Joan Wilson Rueter create a delicious blend of fiddle, accordion, boot stompin' and hollerin' as Whiskey and Women.
