SeaweedSway Showcase Sunday + New Article + Events List! Sunday = Killbossa, Vanessa VerLee & Jeremy Rourke, Anna Ash, & Jeremy Dalmas re-enacting the Oregon Trail @ the Make-Out Room!

Hello!
Welcome, to those who are new to this blog. On here I post a weekly or so list of bay area music shows + yoga & nature & other choice events. Thanks for reading.

Show of the week: This sunday, I'm thrilled to present the next SeaweedSway Showcase w/ Killbossa, Vanessa VerLee & Jeremy Rourke, & Anna Ash, with our host Jeremy Dalmas re-enacting the Oregon Trail at the Make-Out Room!

News of the week: The great Jamie Freedman of Always More to Hear has been so kind to write an article about SeaweedSway!!! She includes what it is, how it came to be, & perhaps where the project is going. Please go here to read it! http://exm.nr/seaweedswaystory

*and as always, below is also a list of super shows coming up, starting w/ tonight (3 awesome choices ~ Beth Custer Ensemble, Dave Mihaley's Shimmering Leaves Ensemble, & Langhorne Slim), & then my yoga class teaching schedule for those who want to try some gentle yoga (a good contrast to attending shows!), & then some other miscellaneous items (housing & job list!free EP from John Vanderslice, new video from Magic Leaves). if you live in this area, hope to see you sunday.
.....
here we go (i'm borrowing JD's description of the show):

Come by
this Sunday September 19th from 7:30pm to 11:00 pm
to the Make-Out Room
3225 22nd St. between Mission & Valencia

You are so lucky!! This Sunday is the third of the month, so you have the chance to come to another Seaweed Sway Showcase! This monthly show is your chance to create community in San Francisco by meeting new people and hearing the city's best music.

Hear the Bay Area supergroup Killbossa play beautifully surreal Tropicália like ghosts from a 50 year old Brazilian nightclub.

Hear the decade-long collaboration between Vanessa VerLee & Jeremy Rourke play like antique instruments in a curiosity shop!http://jeremyrourke.com
check out Jeremy's music set to original stop motion animation at http://youtube.com/watch?v=PhVCi4-prAs

Hear Anna Ash sing like a well-used kettle in a mountain shack!

and, as always, your host jeremy dalmas and the absurdists, this month putting together a full-scale re-enactment of the classical Apple II video game Oregon Trail!!

You can't wait!!

"Dave Mihaly's "Eastern Accents in the Far West" is delightfully far-reaching. Part free-jazz record in the grand tradition of masters like the Art Ensemble of Chicago and Ornette Coleman, the disc balances sensitive ensemble playing with melodic compositions and songs structures that reflect the width of Mihaly's experience. His collaborators in his Shimmering Leaves Ensemble - trumpet and horn player Ara Anderson (Tom Waits, Tin Hat Trio) and saxophonist David Boyce (Broun Fellinis). The group develops Mihaly's compositions with instrumental color created by harmonies and melodic simultaneous improvisation. Perhaps the main pleasure listeners will take from the music is its tunefulness unusual for a heavily improvisatory record from a trio of percussion and two horns. The haunting themes and melodies stay with you long after the music stops playing."

YOGA CLASSES:

These are the Ongoing Yoga Classes that I'm teaching these days. I would love to see you there!

Gentle Hatha Yoga Saturdays at the Yoga Loft.
 $10 Community Class. 12:45-2pm. 321 Divisadero St. @ Page.
http://theloftsf.com
This class is a meditative movement exploration, a slower-paced introduction to the practice that is good for beginners as well as those who would like a gentle & less physically challenging class for any reason. Focus is on getting into the body, grounding, and bringing acceptance to the body in the present moment. Students are encouraged to quiet the mind, breathe, and use intuition in moving in conjunction with guidance on safe alignment.

Restorative Yoga Sundays at the Yoga Loft.
$10 Community Class. 6:30-8pm. 321 Divisadero St. @ Page. (This class happens weekly. Meg Whitbread, or another very wonderful sub, will teach on the 3rd Sundays because of theSeaweedSway showcase!)
This is different from a regular yoga class, in that you do less poses and hold them for a longer amount of time in a non-strenuous way, all propped up, so the body can relax more deeply. Focus is on the breath and gentle opening of places where we hold extra tension and stress... and on re-setting, exploring, and rejuvenating intentions.

Community Yoga @ the Caretakers House 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month.
848 Divisadero St. @ McCallister. 6:15-7:45pm. RSVP if you can make it. Suggested donation of $5-10 but no one turned away for lack of funds, trades are welcome too.

if you'd like, sign up to get my yoga email updates (once a week or less) at
http://groups.google.com/group/seaweedsway-yoga

If you're in the East Bay, check out the East Bay Yoga Collective. They are a donation based community yoga collective and have classes almost everyday of the week. Their website is
