Tonight: Michael Musika's Next Seance in the Series Thursday at the Rickshaw Stop, with Loyd Family Players, Quinn DeVeaux, & Indianna Hale! 7:30pm...

hello everyone,

i hope you're all doing very well, enjoying november.

i am writing with 2 big requests/invitations for you all this week:

1st, please come to the Rickshaw Stop TONIGHT (THURSDAY) for Michael Musika's next seance in the series, with Loyd Family Players, Quinn DeVeaux, Michael Musika, & Indianna Hale. this is a very important show that a lot of work has gone into, and the only thing left at this point is for you to show up! so please do, dress up as you'd like, and bring a friend or two or ten. 7:30pm doors, 8pm music starts. if you're curious, get a sneak preview of MM, IH, & QD at http://chasingthemoon.pdcst.com sing along even if you don't know the words!

2nd, please come to the 2nd SeaweedSway Showcase on Sunday night at the Make-Out Room with Indianna Hale, "Windy-Gap" (Jeffrey Manson), Slow Motion Cowboys, & Jeremy Dalmas (mc'ing!). this is a show i'm now booking in an effort to share my favorite music and to encourage community in the process. since this is only the 2nd one, any help in spreading the word and filling the room is more than greatly appreciated, and i believe you'll be rewarded by a special night of music & surprises. you may even get a cookie from Jeremy if you play along with his interactive music games.

both shows start early. 7:30 doors, 8pm music. these are very significant shows in my little world, so i really really hope you can attend, bring your friends, cameras, intentions, questions, & enjoy the night with musical community.

3rd, i just updated this whole list with lots of great events, and i was so so happy about it, then accidentally deleted it. oops! so i will have to add all those updates again, when it's not so late, and i'm not so discouraged w/ how fleeting things can be sometimes (even though i theoretically know better)... :) ooooh well.

so, yes! please come tonight to the rickshaw stop & sunday to the make-out room!! that would be a wonderful gift, & i think you'll be happy you went!

here is the list that is still left, check the links at the bottom for updates:

MICHAEL MUSIKA
"Michael’s sound is rustic, almost gypsy-like, but it maintains a sense of innocence that is unlike most everything you’ve heard before. His fellow bandmates, mostly friends who play in other projects as well (Matt Adams of Blank Tapes, Eric Kuhn of Silian Rail and Brian Gorman of Tartufi to name a few), helped shape the sound of the album. One senses from their involvement that Musika’s really trying to promote that music, both performing and consuming, is meant to be fun and communal, something to bring us together as performers and spectators. While writing the music for his new album, Musika handed each performer a script with an assigned character, from which each was to figure out the particular sound for their part." -- Bay Bridged

LOYD FAMILY PLAYERS
With influences ranging from Carlinhos Brown to Rage Against the Machine, the Loyds mix together a bevy of breaks and textures with great precision for a hot and furious dance party. Utilizing everything from sultry R&B covers to tongue-in-cheek punk rock singalongs, the Loyds will whip the dance floor into a frenzy and turn you into a dashboard drummer for days on end."Combining elements of samba, hip-hop, funk, heavy metal, dancehall & reggae, this 8 to 14 piece non-traditional bateria has quickly earned a reputation as one of Oakland California's most raucous and jubilant party bands." --SF Bay Guardian.

QUINN DEVEAUX & THE BLUE BEAT REVIEW
Quinn DeVeaux and The Blue Beat Review is the dance floor between the sweet old times and new hard times. It's New Orleans soul and early blues with the depth of cracked hands combined with the contagious dance rhythm you've been looking for all night.

"WINDY-GAP" (JEFFREY MANSON)
"Jeffrey Manson is a new indie folk troubadour from right here in SF. rootsy, rough hewn tunes which seems very much inspired by the earnest heart baring voice of Jeff Mangum. Best listened to in the great outdoors, far from the roar of the city." - Aquarius Records
http://www.myspace.com/mrjeffreymanson

SLOW MOTION COWBOYS
"Influenced by old stories and new adventures, the sound pulls you into the kitchen, the coast or memories of past kisses when you sat and sang by a wood burning stove. Though SMC performs almost strictly original music, the song writing draws willingly from old-time bluegrass, folk, and other outlaw country pickers. On the new record, Hill Climber, stories of a forgotten West are interwoven with the sounds and smells of the world we live in today. In the end SMC seeks to create songs for a new time using the instruments and harmonies of the past."
