San Francisco's Jason Finazzo is best known around these parts as the frontman for The Naysayers. Aside from this rip roaring and rocking gig, Finazzo doubles under the name Secondcousins, his alter ego/moniker for his down home brand of Americana. Sounding at home in the Saloons of last century, Finazzo is an old soul if ever there was one. Fueled by equal parts wine and guts, his material is at once poetic and wounded, with a voice that is desperate, delicate and emotional. His solo material shows a man more troubled than his Naysayers exterior would allow, but which the Bay Area is more than ready to embrace.

Yoga Tuesday Dedicated to Hollis, Donate to Help Bring Her to U.S. Hospital

Dear Friends,
This is a reminder that I'm teaching yoga tomorrow night at the Caretakers House. Please RSVP if you can make it! (jessyjeanine@gmail.com)

Tomorrow will be a special class, as it will be dedicated to Hollis.

While I do not know her well, she is a friend of many friends, and recently expressed interest in coming to this yoga class upon her return from a trip to India. However, last week, while in India, she was in a horrible motorcycle accident, and is in a coma now. Funds are currently being raised to try to bring her back to the US. Read details here: http://friendsofhollis.blogspot.com and please donate whatever you can, spread the word.

It is a free class usually, but any donations tomorrow and in the next few weeks will be contributed towards getting Hollis back to the US, where she will be admitted to the Stanford Hospital. Please keep her and her family and friends in your thoughts as you move through your days.

Information about the class is at http://seaweedswayyoga.blogspot.com

Thanks. Hope to see you there, or soon.
Jessie

aquarius/pisces birthday party w/ slow motion cowboys

dear friends,

though this may look like a long message, not to worry.

essentially, there are only three main things to take in:
1) show announcements for tonight (sunday)
2) aquarius/pisces birthday party invitation for friday the 13th
3) events list summary / calendar-at-a-glance

*first, two shows happening tonight (sunday):

Conspiracy of Venus (COV) & Mira Cook are singing at the Rite Spot Cafe. 17th & Folsom Streets. Show starts at 9pm, the choir sings at 10pm, & it's free!! COV is a choir that I'm in w/ 40-50 other women. We sing the songs of Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Tom Waits, Bjork, Rufus Wainwright, Bill Withers, & more. We'd love to see you there. (Thanks to those who came to the Make-Out Room last week!)

If you want to hear wonderful music a little bit earlier, there is a great show happening not too far from the Rite Spot. It will be a double cd release for Sleepy Todd and Indianna Hale, plus Sean Hayes will play some songs. early! 7-10 pm. happy hours. $5. @ the KNOCKOUT. 3223 Mission, between cesar chavez and 29th.

The two shows sort of overlap, unfortunately, but I encourage you to go to at least one, if not both!

*secondly, you are invited to a shared birthday party, for myself & other aquarian/pisces folks, on friday the 13th! 9pm-1am at the Caretakers House - 848 Divisadero. if you think you can make it, let me know, since we will have a guest list at the door. BYOB (booze, broccoli, or brussels sprouts).
