community events: caretakers music show, restaurant, yoga, & more


dear friends,

sorry for the weird formatting... i can't quite figure it out or, rather, don't have time to right now...

anyway, here is a semi-new list of SF bay area events, with some announcements first. this is the second time i'm trying to post it - i hope it works! sorry if you got this twice.

news:

seaweedsway is evolving - i finally gave in. i made a page for seaweedsway on myspace to make it easier to spread the word about events, and to help share/promote local music. please look/listen/add: http://myspace.com/seaweedsway

sublet available - my housemate greg is going away for 3 months (austin, paris, & beijing!) & is subletting his room for that time. his is the biggest room in the house. we live in the haight/panhandle of SF. if interested, email me for details in the next day.

- you can find them on p. 31 of the yellow pages. they are good for 20% off of *everything* at rainbow grocery on wednesdays & thursdays. go early to avoid the crowds! bring bottles & bags to reuse; shop in bulk!

caretakers restaurant - is happening for the 2nd time on friday february 27th. mexican-themed. vegan w/ raw options for every course. deliciousness at an affordable cost. see flyer attached.

winter wellness retreat w/ kate truka @ land of the medicine buddha near santa cruz. restorative, yin and vinyasa yoga, Ayurveda, Tea Ceremony & Sandplay. description: The Learning To Listen community is a beautiful sangha with which to deepen your practice of mindfulness. Mushroom Cultivation workshop + workday @ Alemany Farm. 12-5. (come for all or part.) Ken Litchfield (volunteer at Alemany Farm, teacher at Merritt College, and farmer in Moraga, CA) will share techniques and concepts around growing edible mushrooms using easy-to-come by materials. The plan is to make a "mushroom igloo" out of straw bales, but we shall see!

simple matters clown show: In times of social upheaval, when faced with economic, political, and spiritual uncertainty, historically society has always turned to the clown for perspective. Well... here we are ! Sorry if we're a little late.

Without red noses , five clowns from four countries take you on a journey through the miraculous unraveling of everyday life, dancing on the ridge between the absurdity of our current reality and a really good time.

WHat is this? well, the idea is to have a show with all new bands. why, you may ask? I dont know. come make the GROUND SHAKE on the 103 anniversary of the great san francisco earthquake... this year's dance off will benefit Station 40 which provides low-cost/no-cost space for radical meetings, movies, and movement events.
