& all the other important propositions. Remind your friends & family to do so too! If you're in CA: Yes on Prop 2. The purpose of this Proposition is to prohibit the cruel confinement of farm animals in a manner that does not allow them to tum around freely, lie down, stand up, and fully extend their limbs. Please take a moment to look at http://www.yesonprop2.com/ for information about how this measure will not only improve animal welfare but also: -improve health and food safety (Prop 2 has been endorsed by the Center for Food Safety), -support local family owned farms (by putting pressure on much larger factory farms), -protect California's air and water. No on Prop 8. Prop 8 eliminates the right of same sex couples to marry. Support equality for everyone & vote no on 8.

11/9 Sunday: Clothing Swap at the Mosaic House (East Bay)! 3:30-6pm. Description: It's true. There's nothing to wear in that closet of yours, but your friend's friend might just have the perfect thing. So clean out your ill-fitting wardrobe, toss that sweater your mom insisted on buying into a bag, and bring those shoes you'll never torture yourself with again - hopefully it'll all find a home with someone else, and you'll go home with a great haul. // We encourage you to bring clothes of all sizes. Also, feel free to bring accessories, small household items, beauty products that weren't quite right for you... really anything you think might be useful to someone else. Whatever's left over will be donated to charity. // If you're feeling spendy, bring your checkbook too. Jessica and Serena (of Ear to Ear jewelry) will be having a mini trunk show, so you can pick up some brand new jewelry if the mood suits you. // And please, bring a friend. The more, the merrier, the better the clothing swap. Email "Jamie Freedman" <jamiliya13@yahoo.com> for address & to RSVP.

One note about the blog & adding to it (www.seaweedsway.blogspot.com):

I have not been updating the blog as much lately w/ events - even though there are still so many I want to put up there. If you have an event that you think would be good to list, please send me a short condensed description (paragraph or less) w/ all of the details (links, address, time, etc), as that will make it much easier to post.

Thanks! Hope to see you at some of these events!

RawFoodLuck Today, Yoga Tues, Jolie Holland Show Wed, Harvest Festival Sunday, + Voter Registration!

Dear friends,

I'm just listing a few things for this week, but I'm going to elaborate on all of them to help you decide whether you'd like to attend.

In summary:
raw food luck Monday!
community yoga class Tuesday!
music show w/ Jolie Holland and Herman Dune on Wednesday!
4th Annual Harvest Festival at Alemany Farm on Sunday!

It's going to be another busy week, but it should be fun - as these events pretty much cover the spectrum of my (& maybe your) favorite things to do. I hope you will join me at some or all of them!

details:::

*Monday (10/13), Raw Food Luck*
at the Caretakers House. 848 Divisadero. 7pm and on.

This will be a belated birthday celebration for Lea! + my 6 year raw-niversary celebration! (After 6 years, you have to start using words w/ "raw" in them as much as possible - "rawsome", "rawk" on, "rawvioli", etc.) Anyway, no matter what percentage of raw foods you eat, whether or not you know Lea, we hope to see you there!!! Raw vegan food of any kind is welcome. Labeling what you brought is encouraged, so that people w/ allergies or special food needs can easily decide what to eat. Ellen Goodenow will be saying a few words on raw nutrition, just don't ask her what she thinks about the enzyme theory. :) If you're not sure what to bring, you can find some recipe ideas here: http://living-foods.com/recipes. It's gonna be yummy! (& if you're still hungry after, the Caretakers House is right next to Little Star Pizza and Green Earth Market. ;)
*Tuesday (10/14): Community Hatha Yoga Class*
at the Caretakers House.
848 Divisadero. 5:45pm-7:30pm.

This class is ongoing on Tuesdays. The class is open to everyone - whether you've taken 0
yoga classes or you practice everyday. Just email me to RSVP if you can make it. I think this week we will do a review of the chakras and continue working with them by bringing awareness of their qualities into the poses we practice. Classes include asanas (poses), pranayama (breathing), and meditation. The style I teach pulls from Integral, Jivamukti, & Yin yoga philosophies, as well as whatever I happen to be learning at the Yoga Loft Continuing Studies program each week (i.e. embodied psychology this week!).
*Wednesday (10/15): Music Show ~ Jolie Holland & Herman Dune
at Bimbo's. 1025 Columbus Ave (at Chestnut St.) in North Beach. doors at 7pm. show at 8pm.

I've been looking forward to this show for awhile, as Jolie is one of my favorite musicians and hasn't played a show in SF in awhile. Herman Dune are quickly becoming a favorite as well. Tickets are available at www.ticketweb.com. Since I'm not very good at describing music, I encourage you to listen for yourself. You can hear a couple of songs from Jolie's new album, "The Living & the Dead", at http://myspace.com/jolieholland and you can hear Herman Dune's wonderful quirky songs at http://myspace.com/therealhermandune

*Sunday (10/19): Alemany Farm's 4th Annual Harvest Fest!
12-5pm at Alemany Farm.

We made it through 4 seasons of growing organic food on SF's only farm - come celebrate with us! There will be Music , Food, and Garden Activities. The music will be amplified via the Bike-Powered PA
thanks to Gabe. Shake Your Peace!, Sonya Cotton, Slow Motion Cowboys, and possibly more will be playing... Kids Activities will include face painting, sack races, and bicycle hay-rides. Food will be potluck-style; organic and vegetarian fare is encouraged. Garden activities will include planting, weeding (the herb garden!), and maybe you'll even get to turn the compost. The event is free; all are welcome. Find out more about the farm & where to go at www.alemanyfarm.org

*Reminder: Register to Vote! and Pass it on!*

Last but definitely not least, please register to vote if you have not done so yet! Let me know if you want a copy of the National Voter Registration Application. It is usable in almost every state. If you are already registered, please take some time to make sure that family members, friends, roommates and coworkers are. Deadline is soon - Monday October 20th. This is our chance! (Thanks to geoffreyrosepetal for the reminder.)
Thanks~
