2009 and all is fine

oops! i forgot to post this earlier. it's a bit outdated now, but scroll down a bit and you may still find some future events.

as usual, a list of recommended events is below. it is a mixture of music shows, movement classes, farm/garden workdays & workshops, & a few other random things. (such as the everything swap & potluck tonight!) please scroll down & mark your calendars. :)

***swap your stuff & raw/vegan friendly potluck! at the caretaker's house. 848 divisadero. www.caretakers-sf.org ... bring things you want to get rid of and take others people things they no longer want/need... please come even if you don't have anything to swap, since there is always plenty of extra stuff, & you never know what you're gonna find. 7:30pm. ps - the caretaker's potlucks are ongoing, every monday night.

***sean hayes & michael musika (& their bands) are playing music as part of the rickshaw stop's 5th anniversary party!! this is sean's only show for awhile since he'll be recording this winter. he will play a full 2 hour set. it is also a rare show for michael, who is in the process of creating a new album. (email for details on how to participate!) come celebrate good music & a special venue by attending this event. tickets are still available, but not for long. they are $15 (+ service charge) @

**SF Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Festival Benefit Concert. @ Cafe Du Nord. Featuring: Original Recipe-the Crooked Jades, Belle Monroe & Her Brewglass Boys, The Shut-Ins, & The Bluegrass Revolution. From Shelby: The San Francisco Bluegrass & Old-Time Festival is a grass-roots, non-profit, volunteer-run festival and in order to help raise money and bring you the best fest, I am throwing them a big benefit concert with a few of my friends. *Organic Gardening for Winter in SF Workshop at Garden for the Environment. 10AM - 12:00 Noon 7th Ave at Lawton Street. $10. GFE Description: Gardening can be year-round work, especially through the mild winters of our Mediterranean climate. In this workshop you will learn techniques to keep your garden thriving through winter and into spring. Topics for winter-specific organic garden care will include: Winter pruning to encourage vigorous Spring growth, mulching, weeding tips, pest control practices and suggestions for varieties of Winter Vegetables. **Herbal Medicine-Making for Winter Health at Garden for the Environment. 10AM - 12:00 Noon. 7th Ave at Lawton Street. $15. GFE Description: Are you tired of that runny nose and sore throat? Do you want to feel empowered around your own health this year? In this workshop you will learn how to create two simple herbal remedies for the common winter bug. We will be making one herbal vinegar and one herbal infused honey for cold care. We will talk about the basic actions of the plants we use and how they work in combination. You will leave with a jar of each remedy for your medicine cabinet, plus handouts with copies of the recipes. This workshop is open to all levels of experience.
