*san francisco homeless count. 7-8 pm training. 8pm-midnight street count. description from carolann: Hello San Francisco friends with some social worker heart! I am forwarding this e-mail to alert you to an awesome volunteer opportunity. I did this last year in Sacramento and it was great. You get out into the freezing cold night air and walk around parts of the city you never thought existed. Then we count all the folks who live on the street (or under bridges, overpasses, trees, any place but a conventional four walls). This helps the city get federal money to continue support homeless services. Hurray!!! If you know of any other folks who might be interested, you can forward this onto them too.

more details from the homeless count team: Please Save the date, Sign up, and Spread the word for the 2009 Homeless Count! The San Francisco Homeless Count will be on the evening of January 27, 2009. By registering your food production zone you are contributing to an important portrait of land use. Our goal is to quantify the total amount of potential food production zones** within the city in order to consider how to support, connect and cultivate these spaces. It is not limited to garden space, so forward this to friends who have space that is not currently being used.
