1-27 tuesday

*san francisco homeless count. 7-8 pm training. 8pm-midnight street count. description from carolann: Hello San Francisco friends with some social worker heart! I am forwarding this e-mail to alert you to an awesome volunteer opportunity. I did this last year in Sacramento and it was great. You get out into the freezing cold night air and walk around parts of the city you never thought existed. Then we count all the folks who live on the street (or under bridges, overpasses, trees, any place but a conventional four walls). This helps the city get federal money to continue support homeless services. Hurray!!! If you know of any other folks who might be interested, you can forward this onto them too.

more details from the homeless count team: Please Save the date, Sign up, and Spread the word for the 2009 Homeless Count! The San Francisco Homeless Count will be on the evening of January 27, 2009. Training is from 7pm-8pm and the street count is from 8pm-Midnight. We need 500 volunteers, so please sign up yourself, co-workers, friends, and family.
Interested? Please email us at HomelessCount@sfgov.org OR call at 558-2346. After you sign up you will be contacted by our volunteer coordinator with details!

Please contribute a photo and information about your surrounding garden space (used or unused): http://www.gardenregistry.org The San Francisco Victory Garden Garden Registry is an online map and social networking tool created to connect city gardeners and to locate current or potential food productions zones* within the city of San Francisco. By registering your food production zone you are contributing to an important portrait of land use. Our goal is to quantify the total amount of potential food production zones** within the city in order to consider how to support, connect and cultivate these spaces. It is not limited to garden space, so forward this to friends who have space that is not currently being used.

as always, please pass this list on. this is a weekly-ish events list, w/ music, food/farm, yoga, dance, eco, and other SF Bay area events.
