Jolie Holland & Michael Hurley tonight, new Chasing the Moon w/ John Vanderslice, & upcoming shows- save the dates!


i'm writing belatedly with some updates & events. i hope you all are well and got to hear some hardly stricly bluegrass this weekend (if in SF)!

1) In case you didn't see it yet, there's a beautiful full moon outside. look out for it, and also check for a new episode w/ john vanderslice!

2) Tonight (sunday): jolie holland & michael hurley are playing at the independent. i highly recommend this show, if you read this in time and are able to make it.

3) If houses want to buy food collectively @ wholesale prices and in bulk, they should contact People's Grocery in Oakland.

*friday october 30th at li po lounge. jeremy rourke's cd release, stencil art opening, & birthday party! toshio hirano, michael musika, vanessa verlee, kirk young, & myself will play some songs in celebration. it will be a special night. i hope you can make it.

*thursday november 12th at the rickshaw stop. michael musika, quinn deveaux & the blue beat review, & the loyd family players will be creating a seance of songs that require your presence. mark your calendars...

Autumn Grounding Yoga Retreat with Kristie Dahlia Home at Double Bear in the Santa Cruz Mountains.Description: In autumn we draw toward the hearth. This year's autumn retreat will be held at Double Bear, sister camp to Salamander, the sweet little camp beloved by so many members of our sangha. Double Bear is just a ways further around the mountain and has the same lovely style of practice yurt -- but far more sleeping options! We shall still have the joys of wood fire heated yurts, a redwood hot tub, and oh, so many delights to enjoy. Our practice, too, will pull toward the spiritual hearth with an expansive practice of healing arts. The Big Rumble: 20th Anniversary of the Loma Prieta Earthquake City and Community Event for Disaster Preparedness.

The Big Rumble is a week-long series of events designed to connect the Bay Area with preparedness resources while commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake. Through local events, social networking, resource tools, and a website that is both informative and easy to follow, we hope to create a feeling of empowerment and unity amongst the Bay Area community. Residents can access informative and engaging resources and tools; learn and practice new skills; and become more involved and connected members of our community.
