Passing this on, from Gabe Dominguez of the Bike Music Fest. Go if you can!
Hey Bike People ~
Hopefully you know firsthand that cyclists make better lovers, but if you’ve yet to discover this wonderful fact for yourself, come snag your Valentine at the BMF Benefit at Cell Space this Friday Feb. 5th, and learn! Learn, learn, learn!
NUTSHELL:
This party's going to be classic off-the-hook BMF madness (minus the chronic run-ins with the police): a crowd of 300 of the sexiest-legged dancers (aka bike people) in SF, getting their freak on to the music of 5 great bands, drinking local 21st Amendment beer on tap, watching trapezeartists gyrating on the ceiling, checking out the art-bike show (feat. Jay Broemmel bikes), BMF past-years highlight gallery, enjoying bike-blended smoothies and food from a collection of SF's beloved street-chefs, and of course pedaling BMF’s famous 5-bike audience-powered sound system.
6:30pm ~ LIVE-ON-BIKE PERFORMANCE!
>>> Meet at Cell Space with your bike, roll with your friends and the BMF cloud of joy, through the streets of the Mission while The Genie makes yo head nod with his famous scratch-guitar turntablism LIVE from the back of a bike!!!
8pm ~ BANDS:
Shotgun Wedding Quintet
> SF’s world famous, hall-packing Jazz Mafia represents
Sneth Goblins
> cello punk rock (playing under an assumed name this evening) - they killed the BMF’s Pier 30 stop last year.
SHAKE YOUR PEACE!
> folk freakout with a new 3-man afro-latin drum section gets you dancing
Fossil Fool the Bike Rapper
> bike culture’s own hand-in-the-air waving, bike grinding, mic-rocking MC
> SF legend who's played with everybody from The Wailers to CCR, unleashes his conscious dance-reggae-rock.
