Graze the Roof Workshop: Build a Raised Bed out of Milk Crates. 10AM -3:00PM. Location: Graze the Roof, Glide Memorial, 330 Ellis Street, San Francisco. Come enjoy a short and entertaining video on How-to Build a 2'x4' Raised Planter Bed, directed and edited by local filmmaker Mariana Lopez and then participate in a hands-on workshop where you will learn how to build one bed from start to finish. These containers are not only elegant, but affordable and made from reclaimed milk crates and refurbished shipping pallets. The planters are also strategically designed to capture, reduce, and re-use runoff and are appropriate for rooftops, patios, and contaminated sites. Come prepared to get a little dirty and engage in cutting, sanding, staining, nailing, and mixing soil. Suggested $5 donation, benefiting Graze the Roof (no one turned away for lack of funds).
